Nejv\u011bt\u0161\u00ed n\u00e1mo\u0159n\u00ed katastrofu v\u0161ech dob jsme si mohli p\u0159ipomenout i jedn\u00edm z nejp\u016fsobiv\u011bj\u0161\u00edch milostn\u00fdch p\u0159\u00edb\u011bh\u016f ve filmu Titanic z roku 1997, s hlavn\u00edmi protagonisty Leonardem di Capriem a Cate Winslet.   Titanic se potopil do hloubky necel\u00fdch \u010dty\u0159 kilometr\u016f a v t\u00e9to hlubin\u011b se lodn\u00ed vrak za\u010dal pomalu rozkl\u00e1dat vlivem podmo\u0159sk\u00fdch bakteri\u00ed a p\u016fsoben\u00edm oxidace. Panuje zde ale obrovsk\u00fd tlak cca 40 MPa, a pro va\u0161i lep\u0161\u00ed p\u0159edstavu to je asi tolik, jako kdy\u017e na \u010dtvere\u010dn\u00ed metr va\u0161eho ob\u00fdv\u00e1ku polo\u017e\u00edte z\u00e1t\u011b\u017e o hmotnosti 4 tis\u00edce tun. Mo\u017en\u00e1 budete \u0161okov\u00e1ni t\u00edm, \u017ee \u010dty\u0159i tis\u00edce tun v\u00e1\u017e\u00ed p\u0159ibli\u017en\u011b cel\u00fdch pades\u00e1t pln\u011b nalo\u017een\u00fdch letadel Boeing 737 \u2013 800. M\u00edt v ob\u00fdv\u00e1ku na plo\u0161e metr kr\u00e1t metr pades\u00e1t pln\u011b nalo\u017een\u00fdch dopravn\u00edch letadel je d\u011bsiv\u00e1 p\u0159edstava, a to jsme teprve v hloubce \u010dty\u0159i kilometry pod hladinou.  Um\u00edte si p\u0159edstavit, jak\u00e9 podm\u00ednky panuj\u00ed v hloubce Mari\u00e1nsk\u00e9ho p\u0159\u00edkopu, kter\u00fd je nejhlub\u0161\u00edm m\u00edstem na t\u00e9to planet\u011b? Hloubka Mari\u00e1nsk\u00e9ho p\u0159\u00edkopu \u010din\u00ed 10 994 metr\u016f pod hladinou mo\u0159e. Hydrostatick\u00fd tlak vodn\u00ed masy je tu neuv\u011b\u0159iteln\u00fd \u2013 109 MPa, to je zhruba t\u0159ikr\u00e1t v\u00edc, ne\u017e v hloubce, ve kter\u00e9 le\u017e\u00ed Titanic. T\u011bch letadel na \u010dtvere\u010dn\u00edm metru va\u0161eho ob\u00fdv\u00e1ku by tu pak le\u017eelo p\u0159ibli\u017en\u011b 137.  Pono\u0159it se do hlubin Mari\u00e1nsk\u00e9ho p\u0159\u00edkopu se dosud odv\u00e1\u017eili jen ti nejodv\u00e1\u017en\u011bj\u0161\u00ed, v roce 1960 to byl nap\u0159\u00edklad batyskaf Trieste se dv\u011bma mu\u017ei na palub\u011b, kte\u0159\u00ed riskovali sv\u016fj \u017eivot neuv\u011b\u0159iteln\u00fdm zp\u016fsobem, ale nakonec se jim jejich odv\u00e1\u017en\u00fd kousek povedl.
